Professor A. N. Sadhu, Ph.D., formerly Professor & Head, Dept. Of Economics and dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu is the Director of the Institute. He has about 40 years experience of Teaching and guiding Research. He has written 9 books and Chapters in several other Books, Published in more than 40 Research Papers. He has 34 years experience as Research Supervisor and 25 years as Research Project Director. He has also completed 6 Research Projects and is still working on a research project. He has officially visited various Countries like Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, England, France, Italy, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece and Pakistan.

PIMS came into existence in the year 1996 to accomplish its mission in equipping young Graduate / Post- graduate with Degree Program that widens their intellectual horizons. Professor (Dr.) N.S.Gupta held the reins of PIMS since its inception as Director till 2005 and is now associated as Patron -Cum- Advisor. He was formerly Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, and University of Jammu and is aptly called "Bhishmapitamaha" of Management Education in Jammu & Kashmir state. Being the founder of Commerce & Management Education in the state, he had laid a sound foundation of academic excellence and research to "take off" for expansion and diversification in this core and critical area of Business studies. He has 40 years experience of teaching and guiding research. He has written 20 books, published 150 papers in various National and International Journals apart from completing a dozen major Research Projects and half-a-dozen Reports for the J&K State Government and other Semi-Government Organizations. He has also guided research to 40 students for Ph.D. degrees.
